The capital of Uruguay is a great place for a few relaxed days. I put together this list of 5 budget friendly things to do in Montevideo for you to see the city on the cheap as I did.
The video: 5 budget friendly things to do in Montevideo
1) Ciudad Vieja
In the video I mentioned a free tour which takes place every friday to discover the old town. Anyway you can also do it on your own! The tourism office next to the town hall provides free maps with all POI and all sights are in walking distance close to each other.
2) City from above
At the tourism office you're also able to get a free ticket for the terrace at the top of the town hall. Take the elevator and enjoy a great view over Montevideo!
3) Discover the architecture on a walk
You can find an interesting mix of architectural styles in Montevideo – discover them by walking around the innercity, where you'll also stumble upon nice pieces of Streetart.
4) La Rambla de Montevideo
One of the best things about this city is the promenade along the river. You can find some nice spots along the 22km long “Rambla” to relax or for doing some workout.5
Food should alway be part of a travel experience. Apart from BBQ/Asado like in the other countries around you can find a sandwich called “Chivito” – it's the Deal in Uruguay and -of course- it comes with meat ;)
Have a great time in Montevideo!
I recently published also a Photo Essay from Montevideo – find more information and some nice pictures there! Moreover don't miss out to have a look at the last episode from Buenos Aires where I show you 10 great things you can do in the capital of Argentina.
My journey continues to the beach: Punta del Este in Uruguay. To make sure you don't miss further episodes Subscribe to my YouTube channel or simply sign up for the mailing list which ensures a notification for new blog posts!
