Beautiful historic city. We were there for four days and could not find time for all the tours and attractions. I would suggest a tour with Cuenca Bestours. Very reasonably priced for a full day tour. They picked us up at the hotel in the morning and returned us at 5:00 after a wonderful day. If your physically able to hike take a $5 taxi ride to Amaru Biopark zoo. It took us about 3 1/2 hours to hike the grounds. The animals are mostly rescues and well cared for with large enclosures.
Our favorite restaurant was by far Capitan. If you are looking for a gourmet meal this is the place, wonderful atmosphere and exceptional food. Our hostess and waitress were lovely and so committed to our satisfaction. The chef even popped out to our table to ask if we enjoyed the meal. The food was so delicious. I ordered salmon, medium cooked which was perfect with a delicious sauce. My husband order the sea bass and the sauce was so flavorful.
It is quite cool at night in Cuenca so bring pants and a light jacket. It is a bit warmer during the day but not humid like other parts of Ecuador. My husband and I are thinking of purchasing a condo there for seasonal use, definitely will be returning to this beautiful city.

Cuenca is a lovely city.
Cuenca is a lovely city. The architecture alone is worth the trip. The Pumaponga museum is excellent. There are also several nice rivers. Good food, friendly people, easy access to everything you want to see and do.

Cuenca is beautiful, with amazing squares and historic buildings and churches. It is also a city where people live so it has a wonderful safe air about it with amazing restaurants, bars and cafes.
We were going to stay in Quito, but it was quite derelict in areas, and we were constantly warned about our safety and not to stay out after dark...
So, we went to Cuenca and could not have been happier. I want to go back already!

We enjoyed the historic town of Cuenca.
We enjoyed the historic town of Cuenca. There are wonderful things to see just going down the street. There are markets, churches and shopping galore, Lots of wonderful sights to see. The rivers and parks are beautiful. We particularly enjoyed the Pumapungo museum. The Hotel Victoria is centrally located with a great staff (our second stay there.) The breakfast was fit for a king and queen. This is our third visit and next time we want to stay for at least two weeks or more. Taxis are great and inexpensive. We don't do public transportation, but it is easily available. Ask locals if you suffer from <soroche> (altitude sickness) and there are "scrips" for this. The people are warm and friendly. The Sheraton is out of town but near Turi and has a high-end restaurant. The Hotel Inca Real is quaint & historic with a wonderful restaurant, in the historic district. The Mansión Alcazar is nearby if you are on a bigger budget, and has a wonderful restaurant. The museum that is one or two doors down from the Hotel Victoria is beautiful, historic and has a great café as does the Museo del sombrero de paja toquilla (the <Panama> hat that really came from Ecuador) Don't miss the Dos Chorreras chocolate store and I believe they also have lodgings.

A great place to spend Easter week.
A great place to spend Easter week. There is a beautiful cathedral in the center of the city and many smaller inglesas close by. The city is located in a valley at an elevation of about 8,500 feet so it is pleasantly cool year round. Lots of Inca history here predating the Spanish by hundreds of years. The city center is very walkable but taxis and buses are plentiful and very inexpensive. There is also a Metro system.
The property is an historical building that is very charming, stylish with lots of character. It’s located on one of Cuenca’s prettiest street. It’s safe, and very conveniently located to attractions and dining via short walk. Our room (loft on upper floor) was simple — but tastefully furnished, very roomy and comfortable for a family of 4. Breakfast was always fantastic and healthy. Best of all were Joaquin and his wife, the hosts, and the staff. All of whom were the best in making us feel welcomed and well taken taken care of.
Perfect quiet location for someone who does not want to stay (sometime noisy) downtown,.
The hotel is surrounded by many other excellent restaurants and 15 minutes walk to Parque Calderon.
Very modern, very clean, great breakfast and coffee.
A superb terrace with a spectacular view of Cuenca with a restaurant that wasn't open at the time of our stay (due to the pandemic) but perfect to enjoy a relaxing evening.
Clara (The owner) did everything possible to make our stay very special. Thank you Clara!
The staff was incredible. They were very friendly and attentive. The breakfast was nice and there is free coffee/tea/water refills. The inner dining courtyard is lovely and the hotel is only a few minutes’ walk from the main square and Cathedral. We extended our stay from 2 to 4 nights because the value for money is excellent compared to some other hotels in Cuenca. Cuenca itself is a beautiful city and well worth exploring.
Bautiful decorations, very quaint boutique hotel. As you enter the hotel, it is like you go back in time with modern amenities. The room a bit dated but very well kept and clean. This place is great for big family reunion, and very convenient and walkable to all places around town. The staffs were very nice and helpful. Breakfast is fresh served every day. Expect the noise like NY city or any old historical place.
First night we've got not reserved room. Cheaper one without balcony. Next day staff worked on it and Superior room # 4 was excellent. Exactly what we wanted. Thank you, David!!!!
Highly recommend to book this room with amassing view of Cathedral and central square Del Parque. Location of the hotel is the best in town. Room are basic but cute and clean.
Would love to stay at this hotel again.
Lovely hotel, wonderful management responding to all my needs and helping with all my requests. Comfortable bed, excellent breakfast and a cute property in a very good location. This isn't a high-end luxury hotel, but had all I needed and the value for the money is excellent. Thank you. I'd be happy to stay there again if I return to Cuenca.
The location is perfect and the rooms are spacious, and it even comes with a breakfast included. It’s the best value in town and situated perfectly in the centre. The staff are always helpful and work hard, cleaning every day too. I have returned a few times because it’s the best value on Cuenca without a doubt in my opinion.
Truly charming hotel right in the heart of Cuenca. Inner enclosed courtyard that let in the light and evoked colonial Ecuador. Not only was it beautiful, but the hosts there were extremely helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to make sure everything went smoothly with our stay. We could not have asked for more.
This hotel sits in a refurbished historical
Building. The property is beautiful, the rooms are spacious and extremely clean and the best part are the staff. They are not only very courteous and friendly but they will go above and beyond to make of your stay an unforgettable one and to try to accommodate your every need
This place was perfect in many ways. Location was ideal along a long walking path by the river. My room had all the features I enjoy, a light and table by the bed, lovely view out the window, blankets not too heavy, pillows comfy, and best of all were Luisa and Fabiola. Wonderful women.
My husband and I very much enjoyed staying here. The location is super convenient, beautiful property, the room was absolutely spotless, super comfortable bed, great shower, wonderful host, and the best breakfast ever! Perfect!!
A hotel of character, rooms arranged around two central area, on interior, the other a covered courtyard.
Helpful staff.
The effort put into cleaning was outstanding.
The bed was comfortable with good quality sheets.
The best of the best! I love staying here and the host is very nice. This place makes my trip in Cuenca very special.
I met new friends and stay together at night and chat. LOVE
The staff were extremely friendly and were happy to make recommendations of things to do.
The location of the hotel is great too - close to the main square and the airport too.
